OPERATION
Mammaplasty is a more complicated type of surgery and takes more than three hours. It requires general anesthesia and one day hospitalization. The operation is performed frequently. Sagging breasts of normal or increased size become an aesthetic problem and causes women skin problems, back pain, migraine. Sagging breasts can have normal or smaller breast gland – atrophic after breast feeding. We use several incisions to shape the gland and shift the nipple upwards. If the gland is enlarged or if there is excessive fat tissue, we reduce the weight of the breasts. These problems relate to women of all age groups. The surgery is performed with regard to preserving the function of the breasts – nipple sensitivity and possibility of breastfeeding. The scars and their healing process is individual but they require longer care and patience of the patient.
BEFORE THE OPERATION
- Confirmation of good health together with lab and clinical internal examination
- Preventive use of antibiotics
POST-OPERATION
After the operation the patient wears a special bra and is not allowed to exercise for 3 -6 weeks.The wounds can be showered normally after 14 days. Depending on the extent of the operation, the recovery time varies. After one week the patient is able to do office work. We prescribe antibiotics as prevention of infections.
OTHER INFORMATION
As additional operations we also perform reduction of areola or correction of retracted nipples. These procedures can be performed under local anesthesia. The patient does not need to stay in the hospital after the surgery. Depending on the seriousness of the problem and extent of the surgery the healing takes at least 2 to 4 weeks.
