OPERATION

Labiaplasty is performed under local anesthesia and takes about an hour. Women who chose to undergo labiaplasty do it because of aesthetical requirements, improvement of sexual life and prevention of chronic infections of the genital area or urologic infection. Operation of smaller extent is usually performed under local anesthesia with adequate pre-operation preparation and no hospitalization. In case of higher sensibility of the patient, or if the surgery includes other corrections, such as vaginal correction, it is advisable to proceed with general anesthesia with short stay in the hospital.

BEFORE THE OPERATION

It is important to have a discussion with the operating doctor in order to agree on a suitable operation procedure and about the expectations for the final result.

POST-OPERATION

After the operation the patient should rest – with no active exercise and intercourse for about 3 – 4 weeks. The operations are very sensible and are performed with aim to achieve a natural look of the genitals without disturbing scars, without urinating problems and problems with sensitivity of the labia minora and clitoris as an important erotogenic zone, without problems in case of further birthing.

OTHER INFORMATION

Apart from the correction of labia minora we encounter other requests for correction of the genital. The most usual is the problem with correction of the scar after repeated episiotomy – incision during labor, which sometimes causes enlargement of vaginal opening and extension of vagina. The operation reduces – tightens larger, relaxed vagina and tightens the opening which brings better sexual satisfaction to both partners. In the post menopause period it often happens that the labia majora becomes hypotrophic, there is loss of fat and ligament tissue and on the other hand there is excess of fat in the pubic area. This problem can be solved by liposuction in the area with excess fat and at the same time the fat can be shifted to the labia majora – lipografting, which will optically and aesthetically make them look younger. Laser therapy can improve hypotrophy of vaginal mucous and its elasticity. These procedures are performed under local anesthesia.
