Moles under control: How artificial intelligence is changing the future of skin cancer prevention

Dermatoscopy and modern technology save lives

Before 2000 we were the first in Slovakia to purchase a digital dermatoscope. Today, more than two decades later, we are again pushing the boundaries of what is possible, said Sandra aRozborilová, M.D., Ph.D. In our Esthetic clinic we work with a 4th generation robotic dermatoscopic system with artificial intelligence, which brings unprecedented accuracy and safety in the examination of moles.

    Why is dermatoscopy so important?

The skin is our largest organ – it protects us every day from external influences. That’s why it deserves our active and regular care. One of the most effective tools in the prevention of skin cancer is the dermatoscopic examination of the moles.

    What is dermatoscopy?

Dermatoscopy is a non-invasive, painless examination of moles and skin formations using a special device – a dermatoscope. It allows the dermatologist to observe skin structures that are invisible to the naked eye and thus detect suspicious changes early, which may indicate the development of melanoma or other types of skin cancer.

Latest technology: the PhotoFinder with 4th generation artificial intelligence

At Esthetic Clinic, we use the FotoFinder system, which is a leader in full-body skin examination. The new generation with Artificial Intelligence (AI) takes the accuracy and reliability of diagnosis to a whole new level.

What can robotic mole examination do?

    • Fully automated scanning of the entire body surface
    • Analysis and evaluation using 4th generation artificial intelligence
    • Accurate mapping and archiving of all signs in millimetre resolution
    • Comparing images over time – to the thousandth of a millimetre
    • Reducing the risk of human error in the assessment of findings
    • Professional final assessment by a dermatologist

Technology that remembers every millimeter of your skin and tracks even the smallest changes.

How often should I have a mole examination?

At least once a year.Especially if:

    • you have a light phototype,
    • more than 50 marks on the body,
    • family history of skin cancer,
    • you have had sunburn or sunbeds in the past.

We also recommend more frequent check-ups (every 6 months) in high-risk cases.

Self-examination: don’t forget to monitor your skin at home

In between professional examinations, we recommend regular home skin monitoring. Notice:

    • formation of new moles
    • change in colour, shape or size
    • itching, bleeding, peeling, redness

🔠 The ABCDE rule will help you recognize warning signs:

    • A – Asymmetry: one half of the sign does not match the other
    • B – Bordes: irregular, blurred edges
    • C – Color: multiple shades in one sign
    • D – Diameter: diameter greater than 6 mm
    • E – Evolution: any change in time

What to do if the mole is suspicious?

If the doctor identifies a suspicious formation, there are two solutions:

    1. Laser removal

    • suitable for benign aesthetic moles
    • without the need for histology
    • fast healing, minimal scarring

    2. Surgical removal

    • used when a malignant process is suspected
    • the collected specimen is sent for histological examination
    • provides definitive confirmation or exclusion of the diagnosis

Summary: Your skin health is under our complete control

    • At Esthetic Clinic, we use the latest technology in artificial intelligence dermatoscopy.
    • The 4th generation PhotoFinder ensures robotic precision, which is checked by an experienced dermatologist.
    • Preventive screening can save your life.
